One Big Bird or Animal

Demo in oils but acrylic painters very welcome.  All abilities

A 2 day course where we focus on building up one painting over this time.

With two days we will also working a little larger than we would on one day painting.

Whilst still using the alla prima approach we will be taking more time at each stage and delving a little deeper into a variety of extra techniques and processes.

I'll be demonstrating the progress of a painting over the 2 day in oils, but this process is just as useful for acrylics.  With plenty of one on one time and tuition the medium doesn't matter too much.

Along with all the usual painting principles we will look at:

  • Warmup excercises focusing on how to look at, construct interpret birds & animals

  • Planning a painting

  • Setting up a painting

  • Mediums, additives and materials

  • Getting the first stage of composition and drawing solid

  • How to lay solid foundations to build one

  • Paint consistency at different stages

  • What to do when we get stuck in a painting and how to move forward

  • Check list of how to analyse a painting as we're going

  • A few little extra techniques and tricks we wouldn't normal get to cover in a single day

  • How to setup a painting up for the finishing stage

  • How to really bring a painting to a good refined finish without sacrificing the expressiveness and layers of the early painting

All this and whatever else comes up. This is going to be a really fun one/
