“Beautiful house and grounds. Well kept and inspirational for painting. Tom is a natural teacher, His demonstrations and one on one support were helpful as well as insightful. Overall I had a wonderful time. Thanks Tom, Tas and Martyn!" Sandie, 2017 attendee
We are coming up to our third year of running this holiday and it has gone from strength to strength. As in previous years we will be running one week in late May and another in early September.
The course is hosted by Tas and Martyn at their stunning property Le Seguinet, deep in the heart of the Lot et Garonne Valley just South of the famous Dordogne Region of France.
The week includes 5 painting days, all fully tutored, with a mixture of painting on the grounds of Le Seguinet (with so much subject matter we don't really need to leave) and going out and about to local spots.
Breakfast and a three course home cooked dinner are included, with a self catered lunch to allow students flexibility between the morning and afternoon painting sessions.
We aim to create a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere with great food and drink and a laid back but focused and productive painting environment.
There is plenty to do for the non-painter too...we have had plenty of partners come along to relax, unwind and soak in the local area.
The course will be led and tutored by myself. I am an experienced tutor of all abilities of artist and am always looking to get the best out of any student, with a focus on their individual needs and personal development.
Whatever your experience level you will find this a satisfying and ultimately informative and useful course. A great introduction to painting in general or an opportunity to expand and build on your existing knowledge. There will be daily painting demonstrations given followed by plenty of one on one attention and guidance.
“Tom's skills lie in encouraging and developing the potential in others. He shows patience, enthusiasm and a natural empathy with aspiring artists that make his workshops a real joy to attend, with excellent results." Paul Torr, Rugby Arts Society
So far I have been able to see real improvements in my students over the course of the week. It's a fantastic opportunity to have consecutive focused days to really move your painting along.
Underlying it all will be good foundational principles of painting that can be applied to a wide range of styles, subject matter and mediums.
Whilst the demonstrations will be in acrylics, gouache and even a bit of line and wash, this course is suitable for most mediums.
“Great balance of professionalism and friendliness. Beautiful house and grounds, especially for painting in. Lovely food, thanks Taz! Great teacher and some surprisingly good works or art by the end of the week”
Jo, 2017 attendee
